Post 14: I Heart Random Acts of Kindness

Torr Pens I heart kindess

“Well, yes,” I replied.  Then she handed me a box of Ferrero chocolates.  “Here, these are for you.”

Instant smile.   Take it from me, these chocolates are delicious.  Who knew Ferrero made almond and coconut confections?  Yum.

Thank you, Anne Marie and Fred of Shaw’s supermarket.  You made my night.
Random Act of Kindess. Pass it on.

Post 13: When your name can be a treasure for someone else

Torr Pens Personalized engraving Sometimes adding personalization is meaningful, even for someone else.  Recently, we had a customer debate if she should engrave her name on her Torr pen, commenting that she might want to give it to someone else.  I, and another customer beside her, encouraged her to have her name engraved, with the consideration that even if she were to give her pen away, it would be even more special as a gift, particularly to a family member or close friend, if it bore her name. Post 10: Do as Fezziwig did

This weekend, we went to a little holiday party at our dentist’s office.  Yes, we at TORR went to a party at the place where people get root canals, braces, and cleanings!  Well, the party was awesome.  There was a chocolate fountain, cakes, cookies, dips, fruit, punch, cider, plenty of booze, and of course a few TORR pens laying around.  There must have been 40-50 people all crammed into the dentist’s office, laughing, talking, eating, and drinking.  And then, out comes the dentist, dressed up like an elf.  I believe somewhere deep down, Dr. Will dreams he was “Hermey” the elf that wanted to be a dentist (see picture).  Who would have guessed that a party at your dentist’s office could be so much fun?  Well, Dr. Will and his amazing team did. Post 9: The magic of the unexpected gift

With Christmas only 10 days away, I’d like to comment on the magic of giving the unexpected gift, that is a gift that is given on just a random day with no warning.  This often small and inexpensive gesture can be more powerful to the receiver than those given on birthdays or holidays, even if these gifts are far more expensive than the unexpected gift.  We highly recommend you, our reader, try this out.  What makes this so easy to try is that you do not need any reason to give the gift, and the gift can be a card, a poem, a bar of chocolate, a can of soup, a ring, or a stuffed toy.  It does not have to be wrapped, and does not need a card or an explanation to accompany it.  Just a friendly smile from you.  You might be surprised by the results. Post 6: Showing “thanks” during Thanksgiving

Torr Pens

My daughter made me this pine-cone turkey.

If your family is anything like mine, then they do not say “thanks” or “Grace” during a Thanksgiving meal.  Instead, they stand around the kitchen/dining room/living room, and eat and drink and laugh pretty much all day.  I never hear the words “I am thankful for…”, but I most certainly see it in people’s faces.  They are happy, and grateful to be spending time with their family.

Post 5: World Kindness Day

Today is World Kindness Day.  I never knew there was such a thing, but I welcome it.  I emailed the picture above to a friend who had been stuck at the airport for hours with an unexpected layover.   I hope it brings her a smile.  It’s a small gesture and not necessary, but I hope it sparks in her, and sparks in you, reading this, the desire to do something small to make someone else smile.  Even if that is just smiling at them.
